Don't be too timid and squeamish about your actions. All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Living > Do You Have a Story to Tell? Tell Yours at StoryCorps

If you are one of the millions of Americans who feel you have a story to tell, than you definitely do not want to miss this opportunity to visit StoryCorps between January 9th, 2006 and February 5, 2006 at Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade where interviewers expect to record at least 125 stories.(1) StoryCorps is a “national initiative to document everyday history and the unique stories of America,” and has been traveling the country since May 2005. (1)

StoryCorp is traveling the county in their “StoryCorps MobileBooth,” and will be parked at Wilshire Blvd. and Third Street in downtown Santa Monica. They have partnered with KCRW-Santa Monica 89.9 FM (KCRW.com) in order to create exclusive content based on the stories they collect at this location (1). All those who tell their story will leave with a copy of their interview on CD and will also be given the opportunity to allow that a second copy be sent to the American Folklife Center (AFC) at the Library of Congress where it will become part of a project to create an oral history of America. (1)

“Beginning January 2, at 10 am Pacific Time, individuals can visit StoryCorps.net to make interview reservations.” (1) “Ruth Seymour, KCRW’s General Manager, says, “Everybody has a story. And StoryCorps gives individuals the sense of affirming their life experience. Memorable moments, tragic moments and joyous ones all make up the human drama that StoryCorps helps memorialize.” (1)

For more information, be sure to visit the StoryCorps information page at the KCRW web site at: http://www.kcrw.com/specials/storycorps/ or by calling 800-850-4406, or StoryCorps.net.
