One of the most difficult aspects of getting an education in the United States is paying for it. Unless you plan on attending a city college, you will mostly likely need to take out loans, look for grants and scholarships, and yes, even work, in order to pay for your education. Below are a few links I’ve come across while researching these topics. Unfortunately, for those of you in grad school like me, most of this won’t apply, but you may find a jewel or two in there. IMPORTANT: DON’T PAY ANYONE FOR THIS INFORMATION. IT IS ALL AVAILABLE FOR FREE!

If you applying as a “minority” than you should also look for specific resources available to that minority group; a few examples include
- the NAACP,
- the UNCF,
- the Hispanic College Fund
- Hispanic Scholarship Fund
- Scholarship for Hispanics Web Site
- the Asian Scholarship Foundation (ASF)
- the South East Asian Scholarship Foundation (SEASF)
For those of you just starting college and who are working on admissions at the same time, be sure to talk directly with the financial aid departments. They have a ton of information that will help. And don’t worry; admissions decisions have absolutely nothing to do with financial aid. I hope this information was useful. Good luck!
