Ron Watson, a champion Frisbee-dogger, and Apryl Lea, a professional dog trainer
and metal-artist, are opening the Pawsitive
Vybe Canine Boutique on Tuesday
May 9, 2006 in Rockford, Michigan. Not only do they offer a unique brand of
training, which they refer to as obedience through interaction,
they also feature products used and endorsed by Ron and Apryl in their years
of
running
with
their high energy pack of Frisbee dogs, as well as equipment not found in any
chain pet stores. Add their one-of-a-kind dog art gallery featuring such artists
as De De LaRue and Apryl
Lea, and you have a truly unique dog shopping experience.
"We try
to help our dogs make good decisions instead of making their decisions for
them," Ron says when he talks about the concept of obedience through interaction. "The
trick is to set up situations and games that create default behaviors, and
then use those default behaviors in our daily routines." To enforce this
in the dogs, all training at Pawsitive
Vybe takes place
in the park, on the White
Pine Trail, and in downtown
Rockford. "This
is training and proofing on the fly. Our clients never leave a sterile training
environment and have to retrain their dogs. They learn how to deal with real
life situations in the real world."
