Since October is Fair Trade Month, thousands of people are scurrying around trying to find chocolates and candies this Halloween that do not contribute to child slavery. Do not let your child be a part of this tragedy. Buy Fair Trade! Not sure how to buy fair trade chocolate, do not worry, there are plenty of resources to help you do so... you can do Google Search (below) for Fair Trade... or checkout a few resources I provided during this years Valentine's Day chocolate rush.

As many of you may already know, Nestle, Cargill and Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) are currently in court defending themselves against allegations of child trafficking, child torture, and even child slavery. I came across this excellent web site that provides a form that you can use to contact those they call the "Anti-Valentines" companies, in order to tell them to stop child labor, illegal toxic chemical use, union busting, and to pay their farmers a living wage. It only takes a second to fill out, so please take a moment to Help Stop Child Labor and Other Illegal Practices. The "Anti-Valentines Five" includes, Nestle, Dole, Wal-Mart, M&M-Mars Inc., and Hersheys. {more}

A team of defendants for Nestle, Cargill and Archer Daniels-Midland (ADM) was present at 1:30 pm today in Federal District Court #6 to defend themselves against allegations of trafficking, torture, and beatings of child laborers on West African Cocoa farms. This was the first hearing in the case introduced today as John Doe, et al., v Nestle S.A., and it seemed like I was not the only one there looking for more information. The judge started by making it clear that he wanted to use the hearing today to explore the positions of both sides and that he was in no position to decide anything today. {more}

WHERE: US District Court #6, 312 N. Spring St, Los Angeles, CA

VISUALS: Activists dressed as Butterfinger and Crunch bars, holding signs that say, “No to Child Slavery on Cocoa Farms” and “Nestle: There’s Nothing Sweet About Child Labor.” Activists will also hand out Fair Trade Valentine’s Day chocolate. {more}
