In October of 2005, I had the opportunity to visit the waterfalls at Iguazú (or the Cataratas de Iguazú as they are referred to locally). It was an astonishing trip and the falls were an absolutely amazing, and awe-inspiring sight to be seen. I took off with a couple of friends (from within Argentina) for a four-day, threthe-night trip to the famous town. None of us had been there before and we had no idea what to expect. For those of you planning to make the trip, or just curious about the falls, I hope this series of articles, videos, and photographs I will be putting together will help you along the way.
The video above is about 1 1/2 minutes long. It briefly shows what the jungle tour is like, how we got to the boat and the first few minutes of the boat ride as we approached the falls. The pictures below take over where the video leaves off. They were taken from the water under and approaching the waterfalls
at Iguazu. It was a pretty amazing experience which I strongly recommend
to everyone.

The excursion cost about 80 pesos which at today's 3:1 exchange
rate is less than $30 US per person. This includes a jungle-tour-type ride
from the tourist center to the river through the jungle and the boat ride
up to the falls. We had a great time! I have to warn you though, I took these
pictures with a disposable camera purchased at the gift shop in the Iguazu
Falls park and I was very disappointed. If you plan on purchasing one of
these disposal cameras, try to go to an actual photo place before hand or
bring your own. The little gift shop there is so small, crowded and hectic
that I was not able to get the quality camera I was looking for.
Don't forget to check back often as I will be adding other Iguazu pages to
the site in the next few weeks. These pages will include topics such as "Getting
There," "The Hotel St. George," "The Garganta del Diablo," "Wanda Mines," "Güira
Oga: The house of birds," "Indigenous peoples tour," "The
Port of Iguazú," and the "Triple Frontier between Argentina,
Brazil and Paraguay". I hope you enjoy them!
