While surfing the web to find some local film festivals to attend, I found this great one that merges two great ideas, addressing social issues and making great films.
ARTIVIST is the 1st international activist film festival dedicated to addressing Human Rights, Children's Advocacy, Animal Rights and Environmental Preservation through film, visual arts and music.
The Artivist Collective is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and was founded in July 2003 to raise awareness, solidarity, and support for social, global issues. In the past 2 years, ARTIVIST has screened 156 activist films from 34 nations around the world, and has united with activist celebrities to bring “Artivism” to the media. ARTIVIST is run entirely by a volunteer staff of producers, event coordinators, program managers, artists and activists. For those of you interested in submitting your works, you have until June 1st! For more information about submitting work or attending the festival, please visit their web site.
